After completing the eight tracks, there will be a final settlement in the ninth, where you will taste the intricacies of the streets of Empire City, essentially similar to the industrial zone from Porsche Unleashed. In Knockout, the last of the second round falls out. Therefore, before the race, carefully consider which ones you prefer. Each car behaves a little differently when driving, accelerates slower, faster, reacts differently in corners.

In Single Race you can choose from all available vehicles and tracks.

The difference is obvious right away, races during the day will replace the night, instead of sunny weather it is raining, the tracks are mirrored, etc. The game provides two levels of difficulty, the first is Beginner and the second Expert. The extent of the individual stages will swallow something around forty-two seconds, so the whole tournament is running more slowly. The tournament is a classic analogy of a career, with eight tracks in a row, four laps each time. The mani mode is Hot Pursuit - in which you must not get caught by the police, if they get you, you only have a limited number of arrests. In this mode, you also have the task of chasing the competitors in the skin of a police officer. Up to seven additional players can appear in your version of Ventura Bay, and you can race or include them in your mission. The third part of the iconic series, subtitled Hot Pursuit, contains eight basic tracks, a bonus ninth, eleven inflated and licensed supersports, four single-player game modes, various shortcuts along marked roads and paths, chases with police, various city street environments, underwater tunnels, mountainous landscapes, desolate deserts and snowy plains. NFS is always-online (even though it’s a single-player game). NFS: Heat also featured cops as a near-constant threat, but in this NFS, their presence is mainly limited to the Outlaw mode. Unlike NFS: Payback, you can’t play as a cop. Each comes with a subplot, but all filter into the main story that you’re a rising star on the racing circuit. These modes are Style, Crew, Speed, Outlaw, and Build. The game has a free roam angle split across five main event types, all of which involve speeding to different parts of Ventura Bay.

During the game, you get to race across the whole town, from wet urban streets to surrounding highways and mountain roads. NFS takes place in Ventura Bay, a fictional city based in LA. There are multiple racing modes to conquer, ‘rep’ (experience points) to earn, and an overarching narrative to enjoy.

This version of NFS is published by EA but developed by Ghost Games, who took the basic premise and boosted it. Other titles in the NFS series tweak the settings and features, but the core gameplay always remains the same - to drive as fast as possible. Some racing games (e.g., Forza) focus on the literal nuts and bolts of the cars and offer representations of real-world tracks, whereas NFS focuses on the thrill of racing.
